P1456/P1457 Codes
#26
Re: P1456/P1457 Codes
Usually the failed By-pass solenoid burns it's ground circuit in the PCM, so I don't think the PCS would be affected by it. I don't think the criteria is being met for the PCM to duty cycle the PCS. Just because the book tells you the certain criteria it needs to run, doesn't mean that it will run under those conditions. I would take some an extended test lead, hook up to the red/yellow wire and run them inside the car, hook my meter up inside the car and drive it around for a day or 2. Watch the meter and determine if it ever gets grounded by the PCM. Do you have any other stored codes in the PCM besides the p1457?
My procedure:
1. Disconnected ground from battery.
2. Relieved fuel pressure at filter...
3. Removed rear seat
4. Disconnected all connectors (3), and (2) fuel lines through the access port under the seat.
5. Removed plastic cladding from fuel filler pipe and cladding that "protects" the Bypass Solenoid/Two-Way valve on the driver side near rear wheel.
6. Disconnected fuel filler pipe, breather pipe and a smaller hose from the tank.
7. Removed exhaust heat shield
8. Unbolted fuel tank straps (not fun due to extreme corrosion)
9. Lowered tank, replaced Bypass Solenoid/Two-Way Valve as a set.
Then I reversed the procedure.
Looks like my 1457 is gone!
