Is this normal? The rad fan kicks on kind of late
When idling or going slow the temp gauge on my 98 LX accord goes up to about 5/8 of the way to H and it usually likes to hang out around 1/2 or so when I'm driving.
The fan kicks on at about 5/8 or 3/4 of the way up the temp gauge and the temp slowly comes back down to 1/2 and the cycle just repeats itself.
I also have a 2001 accord EX that doesn't do any of that. The temp gauge is rock solid at 1/2.
Is this normal for a 98? It doesn't seem that it overheats this way. Or could I have a bad sensor? Did they change something between 98 and 01?
If I have the AC turned on so the fans are always on the temp gauge stays steady at 1/2. More of what I'd expect.
