Default No CEL, no fuel pump, no start

****EDIT***** It is now running.

I have been doing a ton of work on my 97 Accord.

I just finished replacing the head due to some bent valves.

The car was running before i pulled it apart (on 3 cylinders)

Now i have it back together and tried to start, it cranks but does not fire.

The CEL does not come on, the Main relay does not click, and the fuel pump does not whirl.

I pulled the main relay out and resoldered it (it didn't look bad)

I checked the 15 AMP ECU fuse in the engine fuse box and it is good.

Please help

What should I do?

I need this car to get to work and am getting very upset with all the work I have done and money I have spent to have the car not running.

Thank you

also I doubt this is the problem but I could not find a home for this plug

I converted this car from auto to 5 speed a few years ago and am not sure if that plug with to the auto trans. The plug itself is dirty (unlike the others which are super clean on the inside) which makes me think that this has not been plugged in for a while.

Problem fixed.

Not sure why and if anyone has an idea please share it with me.

I decided to plug my scanner that hooks up to my laptop.

I plug it in, turn the key, and hear the fuel pump come on. I then looked at the dash and saw the CEL was lit. I turned the key to start and it fired right up.

Makes no sense and I would love to know what happened as I feel like the car could leave me stranded if i have an intermediate problem.

Will the car run without the scanner plugged in?

Yes it is now starting fine.

As soon as the key is put to position 2 the check engine light comes on, relay clicks, and the fuel pump primes.

Very weird.

Doesn't make any sense.

How about that under hood plug, who knows what it is supposed to plug into?

What are the wire colors to the plug?

Be sure G101 is clean and tight on the drivers end of the plenum....plugging in a scan tool provides ground to the ecm.

I've heard of the ignition switch going bad in these cars. While it's running, jiggle the key around to see if the motor shuts off (?)

You are the man!!!

I had to do a search for G101 and found it mentioned in another one of your posts.

I did not have the ground wire connected there. I found the ground wire hanging down behind the intake. What a stupid place to ground the ECU (imo)

Here is the image you had posted in your other thread. Again, thank you.

While the ignition switches do go bad the problem I had (no CEL on key turned to and no fuel pump) are not normal failures of the ignition switch.)

The problem was I did not connect the ECu ground to the side of the intake.

That is why when I connected my scantool, it saw ground and started working.

Thanks for the advice anyway.

If you can give use the wire colors of that plug and some time, we can prob figure out what it went/goes to.

I remember the auto/manual swap thread you had, there might be something in there that would shed some light on what it is/was.

Don't get down on yourself, I can't tell you haw many times that ground has been missed/forgotten/left loose - as soon as I read what you posted, it was like - yea G101 is loose or not connected.
