Default Newb question about clutch fluid.

Hi guys. I've searched, and I can't seem to come up with anything. Even my Haynes manual doesn't specify that I can tell.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of clutch fluid I need to use in my 2000 Accord Ex Coupe. I know the brake fluid is DOT-3, and I've heard that you use brake fluid in the clutch lines on some cars, but I wanted to be sure about this one. I appreciate the input, guys. Thanks a lot.

Yeah, it's just DOT3; no worries.

So the Wesson is just as good? Awesome. I'm on my way to the grocery.

Thanks man. So, everytime you add clutch or brake fluid, you need to bleed the lines, right?

No, you don't need to bleed the system if you're just topping it off to it's correct level. You only bleed the system if you remove/disconnect the clutch fluid lines or replaced the slave cyl.

^ Haynes will tell you the basics and that's all you really need to know. You can google the rest if you can't figure it out.

You can tell if you have power steering ?

The master cylinder clutch reservoir is next to the brake reservoir.

These cars all came with power steering as standard equipment.

Did the person who told you that it doesn't have power steering remove it, or know that it had been removed from your car? Someone may have removed the pump, belt or maybe looped the power steering lines to delete the power steering system. This is quite common for people to do on these older cars if they don't want to spend the money to fix a power steering issue.

The clutch reservoir, mounted near the strut tower on the drivers side.

Top up both of them if you want. One is the brake reservoir and the other is the clutch. They both take the same DOT3 fluid.

But to clarify, the clutch reservoir is the smaller one on the right, mounted on the strut tower.

Clutch fluid is the same as brake fluid. You just need it to be clean fresh fluid. It can be any color you want as long as it meets DOT3 specs.
