89' Accord Acceleration Issue

89' Accord Acceleration Issue
I have an 89' Honda Accord manual transmission with 184k miles.
Last week the vehicle slowly started to lose torque/horsepower. Every other day the vehicle would require lots of additional gas (revving the RPM's) to get the same amount of power. The next day the acceleration would be back to normal. This week, the problem seems to have become permanent. Out of first gear the engine is getting to 4,500-5,500 RPMs to get to 10 mph- revving the RPM's pretty high w/o much actual acceleration. The same is true for 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't think it has much effected cruising speeds, it just takes a lot longer- and more fuel- to get to cruising speed (or get-up slight hills etc etc). Thoughts??
Months ago, I was having trouble with either a very high or very low RPM Idle. Generally, the car will start with a slightly high RPM idle (2,000-2,500 RPM), but after a quick rev the idle speed drops to normal.
I have the car regularly maintained. Oil and Filter changes etc etc.
Do you have ideas on what the acceleration issues could be caused be?

Re: 89' Accord Acceleration Issue
LX or LI-i? I remember my throttle body giving me issues on my 87 auto accord, and then also in my 88 5 spd accord, throttle spiking, stalling, etc. Both of mine were LX-i tho. Hence the question
