K24 Frankenstein
I'm currently saving up and planning a K24 swap for my 4G Accord. I'm wondering (before I get too into it) if the K24 will fit in my car. I know the K24 block is taller than the K20, and that obviously, I will have to do custom mounts to put it in. Other than that, does anyone know anybody who is working on such a swap, and if it would work at all?
I'm thinking of going All-Motor with it, using a K24A block with K20A2 or K20B head, along with full internals (not telling which) with the RSX-S 6spd tranny. The rest of the engine mods aren't goign to be stated because I obviously haven't worked that all out yet. A good portion of it has though, and this seems like one hell of an engine to build up. I know Skunk2 is currently working on such a project, and that they're planning on putting a K24 Frankenstein (K24A with K20A2 head) into something unknown (as of now). I'm just wondering if it will go into my CB7.

Re: K24 Frankenstein (93AccordCoupe)
way too much work. It would probably be less work to put it driving the rear wheels vs. the front. Frame mods, electrical hell, not worth it.
h22a would be the easiest option.

Re: K24 Frankenstein (Me Love You Long Time!!!)
There is no way to get the K-series motor in an Accord. The problem is that it spins the other way, and requires a different subframe to fit. I don't recommend trying it.

Re: K24 Frankenstein (B the Turbo Pimp)
It's not the wiring that worries me at all. It is the subframe that I was worrying about. There is already an EK conversion for it, it has the whole subframe which can be bolted in. I was hoping I could soon have a backwards motor in my engine bay... especially with that sexy 6spd tranny. Just a hope. Maybe the future will prove different. Especially if Skunk2 decides to use a Prelude or Accord for their little project.

Re: K24 Frankenstein (B the Turbo Pimp)
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not fighting you. But I'd rather be more unique if possible. Most likely it isn't possible, but it's a hope. Though during my research, I have found a very nice engine setup (for All-Motor) which I would hopefully be over 300whp with the motor. It would be really wild, but it's something that I don't really see possible with a H22A. I know there is the stroker kits for the H22A which can bring it up to 2.6L, and with good compression and all of that, I would be getting close... I guess it's all in preference. What's the originality behind something that's been done, over and over and over again?

I can see what you mean. But sometimes the cost just isn't worth it. Would you rather run 13 secs for $5,000 or 13 secs for $10,000?

Re: K24 Frankenstein (B the Turbo Pimp)
Point seen, and well taken. Maybe a high revving (I so want revs) H22 stroker would be wiser. I'm just kinda scared of all of the reliability and tuning issues with a H22. I've heard so many problems with it, though I'm quite sure it's inherent in any car which is heavily modded, such as a Frankenstein motor. Oh well. If there's a kit in the future, I'm down. Now to break my timing belt so I can get an H22.

Or, you can modify an F22B1. I have never seen an all motor version of this engine, and I know it can put out some great numbers. Plus the cost is not out of control and the swap is very easy.

Re: K24 Frankenstein (B the Turbo Pimp)
can somebody explain why you cant swap in a motor that spins the other way?
The way I see it is that you should be able to without too much trouble once you sort out the mounts. Hell honda even already has a car that comes with 2 different engiens that spin opposite directions, the 6th gen accord. you turn the motor 180 degrees, relocate some of you fluid resivours, battery and intake. extend your wirng harness and be done. yes this is labor intensive, a lot more than swapping a motor that spins the same way, but not exactly rocket science as I see it. Am I missing something that makes this impossible to do???

Re: K24 Frankenstein (jweller)
Well, it's just seemingly hard because of the subframe on the car. The mounting would be so different that it would be a lot easier to get a subframe conversion. But as for extending the ECU, it has to be longer for the cars it's in already, so there shouldn't be any wiring problems... The only real problems with it will be mounting, and converting over to OBD-2 which shouldn't even be that big a problem because I'd be using an RSX-S cat along with headers (and custom exhaust)

I guess you would need to custom make a subframe. Something like the one Hasport is developing. If you call them, they may tell you whether it might fit or not or would require fabrication. You might also need a custom tranny....

Transmission and driveline issues. You would have 1 forward gear, and 6 reverse gears.....

Re: K24 Frankenstein (GimpyAccord)
Ive heard a K24 frankenstein wont be possible without a good amount of work to the bottom end. The LS/VTEC as we all know can handle it, but it does reduce the motors life significantly. The K24 is very oversquare and for it to rev to 8000rpm would require piston speeds faster than any other car out there in production, including the 360 Modena and S2000. Will someone do it? Most likely. Is this motor worth it? Not right now. There are no parts for it and limited support for the K20.
If I had about $30,000 to throw around getting custom cams, making the motor work etc made, then sure I would try to innovate.
The only way I see that tranny spinning the gears backwards is if you installed the K in backwards with the manifold in the front. If the exhaust manifold is in the back then what would be the problem? The Area 51 EF civic with a K20-R motor in it has 6 forward gears. Its mounted the same way it is in an RSX. Exhaust manifold at the firewall.

I think getting the K20A-R motor for $6600 would be sufficient (yes, they're already out for swaps) or maybe going for the Euro-R H22A (220hp and 163tq) would be very fun too, and everyone knows there's a ton of mods out there for the H22A (just the Euro R is open deck... )

is there any ready kit to connect the s2000 trans to k motors or even others if possible, also is there any other stuff to be used to fix those front wheel engins vertically in the car

I know Scott... I actually have his old straightcut gearset....
No man youre not missing anything.
You can do it, its been done in a number of fifth gens... The guy that posted that is WRONG and shouldnt talk anymore...
The only thing that a reverse spinning motor would affect would be the f/h tranny if you were trying to use that (which wouldnt work anyway)...
This forum makes me sad sometimes
