Default JDM starter vs. USDM starter (accord)

ever since i changed my starter in my accord it makes a lite grind when i start it up some times. When i got the motor from NIppon it came with motor tranny and even had a starter. After about 6,000 miles i had to change it, so i just used my old one from my LX motor, and then i started hearing the lite grind.

---it only grinds about 1 of 10 starts and isn't a proplem but it just annoyes me.

*** people say that they also get grinds when they get a JUN or TODA flywheel... they say it grinds because the JDM flywheel teeth are slitly off my like .5mm or so, and the USDM startes will cause it to grind sometimes(is this true)

-^^^^^My car is an auto.

sounds funky... I doubt they would design them differently.

Okay.. while my situation is different im having the SAME problem.

I have a manual car (was auto, but that doesnt matter now since you dont use a flex plate on a manual car obviously). And when i got the manual tranny it came with a starter hanging off it. All was well for 3 years until about 2 months ago my starter pukes and now about once out of every 10 starts i also get a grrrriiiind. I took off the starter and the ringgear looks fine

I got the starter from a NAPA, not honda.. could there be subtle differences in starters or are the acutators not popping out fully??? Dont know... I do know the starter i bought was a rebuilt.

there is a dif. between the usdm auto and manual starters, but not sure about jdm but it makes sense that you may need the jdm part, see if you can find the part number, better yet, email that "JDM Andy" guy on ebay!!!

you might have chipped/bent teeth on the flywheel/torque converter...

so let me get this right.... the starter attaches to the torque converter? I thought the T.Converter was located within the inside of the tranny.? please confirm
