J series Tranny Swap
Ok I have a 1999 Honda Accord V6 and yesterday I was talking to someone about cars and they told me about a rare 3.2L Acura Legend with a 6 speed manual. I was wondering if a) this car really does exist and b) if it had the j series engine in it. Also I know for a fact that the 2.7L V6 that was in the 5th gen accord had a Manual for it in the Legend what is its engine code?

Re: J series Tranny Swap (SOHCkordVTEC)
Legend was FWD. I've never heard of a 6 speed for it though. And I thought the J-series engine was in the Vigor in the form of in I5 J25 rated at 175bhp. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Re: J series Tranny Swap (SOHCkordVTEC)
Another Honda site based on V6 accords, im not sure of the address, it may just be v6accord or accordv6.com has a couple members that actually did this conversion on a 6th gen. The problem they ran into was the ECU always thought it was in park, so there was no vtec and no revs past 5k or so. I dont know if they ever resolved it or not. The legend was never RWD, it was always FWD. The 3.2l 6-speed versions had 230hp and 200ft/lbs +/-, they were decent cruisers, but large and heavy. They would do a 1/4 in mid 15s. Finding a 6-speed legend is rare enough, finding a tranny in a junkyard would be next to impossible i would imagine, your best bet is to find that accord web board and ask some questions.

Re: J series Tranny Swap (HondaSport)
I don't think the legend had a J series engine.
besides that, i just remembered the legend engine is mounted in a different direction, it is mounted as it would be RWD, even though it is FWD, so I really don't see it working

Actually I went and checked it out. You have to do something to some vtec sensor or something and the problems have been fixed. It sounds like a difficult swap tho b/c their is welding and stuff involved. I guess it is time to go pricing things out heh

Re: J series Tranny Swap (HondaSport)
yeah it was a c series but it sounds like it works. Sounds like some major custom work is needed tho I think I need to investigate alot more before I start getting the parts for the swap. I wonder if my friend will let me buy his 88 acura legend with the manual I know that tranny is still in good condition
