is this an interference engine?
i have a 91 ex. the water pump gave out and the timing got out of whack. the car still runs, but like crap. im wondering if i did any damage to the valves or not.

has the belt and pump been replaced yet? If not, I'd suggest replacing them and resetting the timing marks. It's likely the belt slipped enough teeth to advance or retard it & make it run like crap, but not damage any valves.
I've got a friend's blown F22A6 in the garage, His T-belt snapped and he bent valves. We took the camshaft out and checked compression(rough check with all valves closed) and #4 cyl had none. that's when I told him that engine was hopeless, it'd be cheaper to relplace. $250 later, he's driving it again w/ a 93 lude S motor.
