Instrument Panel Lights Dont Work
So, I installed a new stereo headunit on my 1997 Honda Accord. Everything went well except for the part that my instrument panel lights have gone out. Also the letters that show whether you're in parking, reverse etc, have also gone out. (And they're way down there near the shifter) My lights under the glove compartment have gone out too. Whats the deal? Burnt fuse? I've checked under the dash for the fuse but all of them are fine? Should I check under the hood? I just wanna know what I did wrong. Help me please!

you most likely grounded out the illumination circuit...its the small light fuse under the hood...if it keeps blowing check your wiring

What if the fuse is good? What color is that wire? I am having a problem close to this but My stereo has been installed for months and I just got the problem a few days ago. The instrument panel lights flicker...

Re: Instrument Panel Lights Dont Work
the dimmer switch is the combination switch on the steering wheel (that controls head lights, parking lights etc)??
or is the dimmer switch the smaller box to the left of the steering wheel that you can turn to control the brightness of your dash lights??
thanks

The dimmer switch is the small box to the left of the steering wheel that you can turn to control the brightness of your dash lights. If the dimmer switch is bad, then your illumination lights won't work, so change it out.

But would the dimmer switch Also cause the parking lights (tail and front) to quit working??
My lights on the rest of my dash are out also... AC lights/buttons.. etc etc

Re: Instrument Panel Lights Dont Work
Muffin Man, I am having a similar problem, and I checked the fuse labeled 'dimmer' under the hood in my 2002 Accord SE, and there is no fuse there, and no terminals for landing a 7.5A fuse, it is just blank. This only happened after I replaced the stock CD/tape deck. My new deck didn't have a place to connect the 'dimmer' lead from the wire harness, so at first I connected it to the illumination lead, but I have since disconnected it. Could I have shorted the dimmer switch when I connected it to the illumination lead on my new deck?
