Installing a switch to disable passenger airbags? ('99 LX)
I have a '99 LX, which doesn't have the Occupant Position Detection Sensor in it. Thus, the airbag will go off at full force in any frontal collision, no matter if nobody is in the passenger seat or if I have a child in the seat. I do occasionally put a kid in the front seat, but always with the seatbelt on and with the seat as far back as it'll go. I'd like to go one step further and be able to turn off the passenger airbag.
I remember a few years ago that a car owner could petition somebody to "allow" the owner to disable the side airbag, and that dealers would do it for a price, but that some dealers wouldn't do it due to liability reasons, or something like that.
Anybody have any experience at this? How much does it cost? Who do I ask permission from? (that pisses me off that I have to get permission to do it in my own car, but that's the way it is I guess)

Actually i found out today while i was looking for airbags, that u could get a this thing that is a replacement for the airbag but theres no air bag inside..kinda like a cover for inside the car with out the airbag..and it will pass inspection due to the fact they cant open them to check.
