How to remove the CD changer headunit from my 98 Accord EX V6.
Hi guys
My battery died and my stereo needs a code to activate it. I couldn't find the code anywhere and I have tried looking inside the glove box as suggested by some ppl here. Does anyone know how to remove the stereo so that i could access the serial number at the back? Appreciate your help very much.
Thanks in advance.

1)they are in the owner's manual, dealer attache a card to it
2)serial number is a 6 digit, which is different from the actual code, look in the glove box
3)try call in the dealer with your car's vin, they could search everything for you, the problem is that most of the time they will dick you around a little being the lazy slugs they are.
if all else fail
**make sure you remove the negative lead of the battery so you wouldn't fry something
**
1)there's two phillip screws on the lower edge of the brezel
2)pry the clock out with a flathead(cover it with tape so it will not scratch anything)
3) yank the brezel out(watch out for those little clips, those bastard are 25 cents per piece, and they rattle if you let it drop into the "hole"), undo all the harnesses
4)there's four screw holding it down, it's torqued pretty tight so it will not rattle.
5)redo the radio, the number should be inked on the white paper.

Re: How to remove the CD changer headunit from my 98 Accord EX V6. (Heat)
I have the same problem but I have a 1999 Honda accord EX. Can the nice guy who posted the specs for a 1998 send me the specs for a 1999 Honda accord ex that has a CD and radio no cassette. email is tmurray@nc.rr.com.
Otherwise is there a way to get the code or a serial number by lookig up the VIN?
Thannks,
Tim

The instructions will be the same, and you would be pulling the radio to get the serial number in order to tell that to the dealer - the code isn't printed on the back of the radio.
And a little off topic but... I was looking at the new lineup of Alpine head units - they are amazing. Now you can get an Alpine that accepts .MP3 players (or iPods), and you can get this thing thing that lets you control the radio with your steering wheel controls. My '99 LX is still my main family car - once I buy something new and this becomes by daily commuter, I'll be picking up a new radio. One that takes .MP3's and/or an iPod.
