Hey guys. I Have a 2004 Honda Accord 2.4L 5spd. Recently my Maintance required light came on and i know how to reset it and all. My question is, would you say its necessary to do all the thing Honda Manual recommends for 20,000 miles?

What does your manual say is necessary at 20,000 miles?

I have a '99 5spd, the maintenance schedule for the 6th generation was based on multiples of 7,500 miles. The 15,000 list was just an oil/filter change, tire rotation, brake inspection, and some other inspections.

go by the "serious duty" or "extreme conditions" schedule. i think this includes a trans flush along with the engine oil.

what's up with only changing the engine oil filter every 15,000 miles, though? i don't quite get that. don't most synthetics outlive the filter?

A quick rule of thumb;
To maintain your warranty coverage, I wouldn't give the dealer an excuse for denial of warranty repairs for lack of maintaince.
Have it done.
You can even do it yourself, if you're so inclined.
But you better keep not only Repair Orders, but records AND reciepts, just to prove you've done it.

Yeah, I would also recommend that too, considering daily driving (stop and go traffic, hard accelerating) is thought to be severe conditions nowadays.

I change mine with EVERY oil change. I watched a drifting video w/ a friend and someone in Japan asked the drivers/techs a question about changing TRANSMISSION fluid....they stated to ALSO change that along w/ engine oil & filter. But couldn't that be construed as overkill?

they are not that bad. takes about 15 minutes , hardest thing is to remove glove box which is no big deal at all

The 5th gen didn't have an ac filter. 6th and 7th gen are set up different.

Here's what Honda says: (had to look it up to be sure)
The dust and pollen filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 24 months, whichever comes first. Replace the filter more often if the airflow is less than usual, or if the vehicle is driven in areas that have high concentrations of soot from industry or diesel powered vehicles.

Here's what Honda says:...</TD></TR></TABLE>It's that way for my '99 LX (6th generation). Though at 30,000 it was such a pain to replace (plus it looked clean to me) that I didn't replace it at 60,000, I'll replace it again at 90,000 miles.

It's possible that 7th generation states every 15,000 miles. I hope they redesigned it so it's easier to change...
