How can I locate P.S. belt tension bolt on 1998 LX?
Hello,
My fist post
I am planning to replace alternator and P.S. belts on my 1998 LX 4cyl.
I don't think that I will have a problem with the alternator belt.
However, I could not locate the bolt that can adjust P.S. belt tension.
Would someone please let me know where that particular bolt is locate. If it doesn't exist, how can I adjust belt tension.
Regards,

You loosen the bolts on the PS pump upper and lower and tighten the tensioner, then tighten the two bolts. Its easy.

I can see top and upper bolts but cannot locate tensioner bolt.
According to the diagram, I can lossen #6 and #17 bolts so I can remove the old belt.
Where is tensioner bolt?
Thanks

I believe the '98 P/S setup is the same as the '99 and '00 that I've worked with. There is no tensioning bolt like on the serpentine belt.
If you want to increase the belt tension, first loosen bolts #6 and #17 a little bit (just enough to move the pump vertically)
To increase tension on the belt, you insert a 1/2" breaker bar into the square hole on the back of the pump, and pull up on the bar to put tension on the belt. While holding tension on the belt you need to tighten bolt #6, followed by #17. You're then supposed to measure the belt deflection to determine correct tension. (I believe its 1/2" for the P/S belt but I'm not sure)
