Honda Accord 2000
I have a 2000 Honda Accord Ex 4 Cyl. with about 130K mikes, my check engine light went on and every so often when I'm driving the RPMs jump for a few seconds making the car hard to drive. The code I get at autozone is P1381. Which is a cylinder position sensor or short circuit problem. What does everyone recommend on this forum to do?

1. Reset ECM/PCM
2. Start engine.
Does P1381 come back?
No. Intermittant failure. Check for poor connections/loose wires at distributor, PCM, harness.
Yes. Got to step 3
3. Check for poor connections on the spark plug wires.
Are the wires OK?
No. Correct problem.
Yes. Go to step 4.
4. Check condition of ignition wires
Are the wires OK?
No. Replace ignition wires.
Yes. Go to step 5.
5. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
6. Disconnect distributor 4P connector.
7. F23A1/A4 measure resistance between distributor 4P connector terminals No.3 and No.4.
F23A5 measure resistance between distributor 4P connector terminals No.2 and No.4.
Is there 800-1,500Ω?
No. replace the ignitin distributor housing.
Yes. Go to step 8.
8. F23A1/A4 check for continuity between body ground and distributor connector terminals No.3 and No.4 individually.
F23A5 check for continuity between body ground and the distributor connector terminals No.2. and No.4 individually
Is there continuity?
Yes. Replace the ignition distributor housing.
No. Go to step 9.
9. Reconnect the distributor 4P connector.
10. Disconnect PCM conector C, 31P.
11. Measure resistance between PCM terminals C29 and C30.
Is there 800-1,500Ω?
No. Repair open in the wire between PCM C29, C30, and the distributor.
Yes. Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between body ground and PCM connector terminal C29.
Is there continuity?
Yes. Repair short in wire between PCM C29 and the distributor.
No. Substitute known good PCM and recheck. If symptom goes away, replace original PCM

I experienced The same issue with my Honda accord. I was given an error code that read it was a VTEC solenoid. What happened is because of excessive oil loss from another issue, my oil pressure would drop and at 4000 RPM the VTEC tried to kick in but would not be allowed to do so. So if I filled my car back with oil it was fine. The underlying cause was a VTEC solenoid gasket which was not too difficult to change. Good luck
