I have a 2001 Accord F23A1 2.3l 4Cyl Automatic, i was wondering if their is a way for me to get more torque out of it. is it possible or since its an auto it wont really go up. any tips or suggestions is appreciated

anything that will give more power will generally give you more torque...
Upgraded cams and valvetrain, intake, header, exhaust, better intake manifold etc

Just read up and know your going to have to spend $$$ for gains

With that said how deep are your pockets, if they are deep set up a budget and you'll get all the TQ beyond your wildest dreams.

Or you can just buy another car.

This will be a hard one w/o major modification if you want torque.

almost every "power" upgrade on the market is really either a torque shifter (usually towards the higher RPM) or a torque increaser.

torque is a measurement. power is the result of a calculation based on torque.

it's fair to say though that when we talk about a "torquey" motor, we mean one with a lot of low-mid range torque. congratulations OP, the F23A1 is already optimized for that. the only problem is it's strapped to a heavy car... a mild build with exhaust, a nice cam regrind and other supporting mods should show some improvement. don't cheap out on the dyno tune though. this is where you can really dial it in to shift that torque curve lower. of course realize this will adversely effect you're high RPM output some... and of course a turbo would really show the biggest torque gains.

either way you go, that auto trans won't like anything extra. if it were me i would tackle that first. either swap transmissions or swap cars for a manual equipped Accord.

I was looking at these cam gears and was wondering if they would fit on my car it say their for an h22 or an f20b is that a big difference or are those parts interchangeable with no problem.

anything you can do to lighten the power train will help. if you had a manual i would say aluminum fly wheel, but idk what you do with an automatic.

they won't interchange. what will fit is one for a SOHC F-series VTEC (F23A1, F22B1..)

why do you need an adjustable cam gear? did you get a cam?


torque converter with a higher stall speed...? i was going to say "if anyone makes that.." before i found this site that's a bunch of money compared to going self-shift!

You need to get a 5 speed. I did a header on my automatic accord, and I couldn't feel any difference. I did a header on my 5 speed civic and it was a noticeable bump in performance! AUTO SUCKS

Accords really don't respond well to the I/H/E modifications as much as some other vehicles. To get actual power you have to do those coupled with like a camshaft and cam gear as well as tuning (maybe an upgraded valve train as well.)

Getting the car back up to 100% maintenance wise will help out, like when was the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

I've actually seen a turbo-charged 98-02 V6 (auto obviously) which apparently ran okay. I wouldn't do it myself but whatever, it can be done.

Getting a camshaft, camgear, quality I/H/E and running a VAFC or something similar would probably help quite a bit. Because you're OBDII and automatic though it complicates the tuning I'd imagine.

You are going to be underdriving all of your components and they are going to wear out sooner. Buy them only if they are lightweight but don't underdrive. You probably won't feel much improvement from them though. Wasn't there a supercharger for the f23?
