Default Garage Door Opener Programming

I have an 04 Accord that has over-head garage door opener buttons on the roof console. I was wondering how to program them as my owners manual was not provided to me when I bought the car. Thanks for your time

Default Re: Garage Door Opener Programming (THIRB04)

register with http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/ and look in the FAQ for your car if this dosen't work

1. If your door opener is > 10 years old, it may never work.

2. If your opener is relatively new, you should be OK. Start by clearing all existing codes. Hold down 1st and 3rd buttons for 20 seconds, I think.

3. Follow the basic programming procedure - unplug opener, hold remote up to HomeLink buttons, press remote button, press selected HL button, hold both for 5 secs.

4. Repeat 3.

5. Plug opener in again and see if it worked - for older doors w/o rolling code, it should work.

6. If it doesn't work, you probably have rolling code. Find the programming button on your opener motor unit and press it until the light comes on. You might have to remove the light cover to get at the button.

7. Run like an idiot to your Pilot and press the HL button you are trying to program - hold for 5 seconds.

8. Repeat step 7. 2 more times to be safe (without running - you should be there already )

9. Wait about 30 seconds or untill the programming light on your opener goes off, then try the HL button to see if it works.

NOTE: The key with rolling code is that the remote control programming (2. through 5. above) still has to be done before the rolling code opener motor unit programming (6. through 9.). Both must be done in order to get it to work properly.

10. If it still doesn't work, check the Home Link web site for compatibility issues with your brand of opener.

11. If all else fails, it is possible HL may be defective - you may have to find a friend with a different garage door to try programming again.
