Default Tune Up Time

I am working on getting my '85 Honda Accord ready for daily driver duty during the winter and I think it is time for a tune up. The past few days it has been missing when it is cold, especially when it rains. When I had it in to put tires on I was talking to the mechanic about giving it a tune up and he told me I should only use Honda OEM parts on the car as they will last a lot longer. I called today and got the prices on the parts - $45 for wires, $20 for cap and $5 for rotor. I can get NGK wires for $13 and the cap and rotor (I think NGK also) for $5 a piece. Are the factory pieces worth the extra money?

Also, the car seems to run rich now that it is getting colder. Sometimes it doesn't seem bad, but other times I will drive it and when I get out it smells pretty badly. I talked to the mechanic and he said it didn't seem too bad for him and that I probably wouldn't do much better with a carb'd car, and that if it was bad I would have a check engine light. I don't even think the car has a check engine light and I am tempted to just replace it for peace of mind. I checked the OEM price and they are asking $195 for it, where I can get a Bosch or NGK unit for $35. Would I be wise to go with the OEM piece or are the aftermarket ones just as good? I only plan on keeping this car another 2 years or so, it is starting to get rusty and has a decent amount of miles and it is only really a bad weather car (plus it was free) so I don't want to dump a ton of money into it that I don't have to.
