F23a1 Turbo Kit project coming soon!
I just bought a slightly used turbo kit. I have a acouple questions though:
1) Do i have to have a turbo timer? or will an aem ems work?
2) will the fmu that comes with the kit at least make my car run until i can get the aem ems?
3) anyone have any good install guides/ website/ links? I have some knowledge in mechanics. not to sorried about the install gotta find someone to tune it!
4) Only want to boost 7-8 pounds what size injectors would be good?
5) whats a log mainfold?
The Kit comes with;
24 – Hose clamps for the charge pipe (more than enough)
3 – 2.5 inch solid charge pipe bends (see pictures)
1 – 3-foot piece of 1/8th inch boost gauge line (black tube)
2 – 3-foot pieces of high temp 1/4th inch boost sensing vacuum lines (orange tubes)
2 - T fittings for vacuum lines
8 – Charge pipe connectors of various size and style
1 – 2.5 inch Blow Off Valve adapter
1 – Greddy Type S B.O.V.
1 – 2 inch to 2.5 inch silicone adapter (for turbo outlet)
1 – 38mm tile waste gate with a 7 psi spring in it (includes all bolts)
1 – T3/T4 hybrid balanced Garrett internal turbo. .63 trim minimal shaft play (within specs)
1 – 3-foot braided steel oil line with the proper oil restrictor for a T3/T4 turbo
1 – 16 inch oil return line with clamps
1 – F block cast iron log manifold, with all mounting bolts (except for a nut and a couple washers)
1 – Cone filter
1 – 27 x 5.5 x 2.5 inch intercooler with 2 inch ports
1 – Missing link with all necessary hardware
1 – 1:12 FMU
1 – 2.5 inch mandrel bent Down-pipe with cut-out, it is already set to work with the turbo and waste-gate, all it needs is to be welded into your exhaust system.
thanks for any info!

1: no you do not need a turbo timer.
2: no experience with fmus
3: install is pretty basic as long as you know what goes to where... the worst problem i had with mine was the front torque mount so we just cut it up a little. if you can get in contact with whoever sold it to you, you can ask them if they had any problems on their car(assuming it was on the same chassis)
4: i run 440s with 13psi with about the same turbo.
5: a log manifold is one of the most basic turbo manifolds. takes up little space at the expense of efficiency.

The injectors themselves will physically fit but the F22 injectors are peak & hold where the F23's are saturated. In order to use them you would need a resistor box.

and to add to that, DITCH the FMU and get a chipped ecu. Run freeware, youre motor will thank you for it.
