CRISIS

My fiance just bought a 1991 Honda Accord Ex, Auto transmission, 195k and it was having a problem moving the shifter into any gear. It took a lot of muscle to get it into any gear, but the transmission showed no adverse effects.

Now the car will not move no matter what gear it is put in, Reverse, Drive, D3, D2, D1 none of them work. She can put the car in Neutral and push the car.

Thought this was the end of the problem. It gets worse.

Now she can not even get it back into Park or Reverse. She has to leave it in Neutral with the e-brake up.

I've searched and am hoping it is either the transmission fluid (too low) or the brake switch/solenoid is bad.

Any advice?

Sounds like the clutch plates from the auto tranny gave off, time to replace it.

is the selector cable binding

is the interlock working properly?

you think maybe the throw out barring is maybe bad not familiar with autos. not even sure it has one but my buddys civic did the same and his was the throw out, but check first and see if autos have one. could be the problem.

Well, the car is off to the mechanic. Her cousin said she would give back the money for the car because it's just a bad situation.

If I ever find out what the problem was, i'll edit my post for future searcers.
