Caliper pins

Caliper pins
I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX 2.3l 4 door sedan. Here is a diagram for the rear disc brakes:
At all of the local parts stores, I can easily get the pins (items 29 & 31). I found the correct boots (these are the two things between the pins before the caliper bracket that don't have a number for some reason) at O'Reilly. The kit that has the correct boots, however, does not have the correct rubber bushing (item 28) at the end of the lower caliper pin.
In the past, I had purchased a kit from Advance that had the correct boots and bushings (it is item #H18050 if you care to see). All of the Advance stores in my area no longer stock this item.
I've read on another post in this forum that the small bushing (item 28 in the diagram) is only there to for noise reduction. I can't see any other purpose. The boot already seals the pin.
So, does anyone know if it would be alright to leave this bushing off?
Or, could I put the top pins in place of the lower pins (replace item 31 with item 29)?

Re: Caliper pins
The bushings in the O'Reilly boot kit are too wide in diameter and too short in length.
The Honda dealer is 40 minutes away from me.
I did end up re-using the old ones. One of them was still in good shape. The other one wasn't in the best shape but it wasn't as bad as I've seen them before. Usually they are unusable when these pins get stuck.
