Bad Radiator Fan Switch?
Hi guys,
I have done a little research and all signs are pointing to a faulty radiator fan switch. Here is what's going on:
My radiator fan intermittently works, the fan works half way through my commute to work but when I hit traffic, the temperature of the car passes the half way mark in the temp gauge forcing me to turn on the AC fan to bring the temp down. So far that trick works every time.
Another problem is the radiator fan always kicks in after I turn off the engine.
Before I start buying parts, is the radiator fan switch the correct part to replace?

Re: Bad Radiator Fan Switch?
How many radiator fan switches am I suppose to replace? I saw there is one on the T-stat housing and one by the top radiator hose. Any suggestions?

Holmes,
I was reading this thread:https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...tor+fan&page=2
Where you and Ghostaccord suggest possibly the fuses or relays being blown out. I was not aware that both fans should be running when the AC is on! I am going to check on this tomorrow because I don't recall seeing both fans operating when my AC is on.

the fact that even one fan only runs when the ac is turned on should suggest that the fan switch is bad
at any time the ignition is on and the fans turn on they should always be running together so ya check on it to see there is another issue in addition to the fan switch

Re: Bad Radiator Fan Switch?
Im having the same issue as well A/C is on but condenser fan is the only one spinning...checked coolant level, upper/lower hose temp (laser temp tool) and pressure to see if thermostat was opening it is functioning properly, at that point it seemed i was looking at a either a bad temp switch, relay, or fan assembly. After testing relay and switch they were working i slapped the fan motor and it spun a little and quit. Found the culprit. Hope this helps...took about an hour to troubleshoot, never for a moment did i expect the motor on the fan to be the problem. Fyi my fan was intermittent as well.

I had the same issue. Start the and when the temp needle star ts to rise above normal operating range, unplug the temperature switch and jump the 2 contacts together with a paper clip. This should turn on the fan proving u have a bad fan switch
