Default automatic transmission service on my 1992 honda accord ex

When servicing the automatic transmission on my 1992 ex accord does it have a filter I need to change or just clean it?

Honda likes screens which, although a bad idea on submarines, works quite well for them. The primary filter screen is located (I believe) under the primary Valve Body, and as mentioned earlier is not servicable (except during teardowns).
There are others (however) which from time to time MAY require some attention, those being under the Shift Solenoids.
If you're a total pest about your own car (like I am), I'd suggest flushing the trans.
The drain refill proceedure removes but (maybe) half of the available fluid. That's why Honda suggests doing it three times per service ($ ouch)

I've been told many many times by the Honda Dealer (in the early days, before I had knowledge of cars) that it is good to flush the trans every 15k mi. I noticed more harm than good, being the shift was harder after the flush. Shortly afterwords, the transmission went out.

BTW, where did that article come from?

Between myself and my extended family we've owned (and serviced), let's see now, fourteen (14) Hondas since 1996. All have had transmission flushes and all have never had anything close to a complication.
I believe Honda's stance is based on two considerations:
1) Don't want to consider opening up the dealer network to using non-Honda products and equipment and
2) Avoid the possibility of complications from in-advertantly back-flushing the system.
If done properly, there is little danger of a complication.

that is from the factory.
yes back in the old days that was the big thing is to do flushes and now with the fluids and chemicals in the atf they are very easy to contaminate and cause more damage then good.

well that's not entirely true . AHM recommends the use of aftermarket fuel injector cleaners like bg and the a/c evap cleaners like bg's fridge fresh since it really does work but the transmission flushers do create problems down the road. it could have something to do with temps the car is in here in cal we see burnt fluid all the time.AHM does have scientist that do confirm these statements and know how long fluids last and what kills the life of a fluid. i knowa lot of people that do the flush and have had no problems and soem with nothing but issues.
