Clearing Codes...
Honda newb here, so forgive my stupid question.
my girlfriends daughter just got a 97 3.0 CL..
we tried to get it inspected, but it had the EGR Insufficient code P0410 or whatever it is...
i pulled the intake manifold off last night and cleaned that port out (after a bit of google-ing the issue.)
my question is how to reset the trouble codes?
and will this code clear itself?
can i just pull the battery for a little bit and then take it for some drive cycles?
im spoiled with having a tuner/scanner for my Dodge (my toy ) and im not as familiar with all of the older OBDII stuff.
i suppose i could take it up to Autozone, but having spent a lot of time in the Dodge aftermarket community, i know that there are a lot of tricks for every make and model, and id rather not make a trip i dont have to.
i will probably be on here more, as my girlfriend also drive a 2007 accord. and it sure is a chore taking care of cars for two girls who cant do much more than put gas in it!
sorry to ramble with the introduction, but any tips/tricks you have would be greatly appreciated
thanks
dude

Re: Clearing Codes...
pulling the battery cable for about 10sec. will do it, but you'll have to enter the radio code and re-enter all the presets..
you can pull the 7.5 amp "back-up" fuse for about 10sec. and that will clear the ECU. sorry, i can't remember if it's under the hood or under the dash on your model.

Re: Clearing Codes...
cool thank you...
ill just yank the battery and take it for a little drive to see if i cant get it ready for inspection.
is it correct that if the CEL (check engine light) comes on and stays Solid and Lit with no flashing, that it is "ready" ?
thats how it is on my car. this car didnt come with the user's manual.
speaking of the radio code, we dont know it anyway...
is there anyway to find that out or reset it?
*edit*
just did a little research on the radio code... what a complicated mess,
lets hope its under the ashtray, in the glovebox, or in the fusebox... or ill be making some dealership calls with the serial number later.
thanks again

Re: Clearing Codes...
radio code is in your car somewhere. its ususlly where a tech would find it during a service. like behind a fuse panel cover or behnd the glovebox, or inside the glove box. its a white sticker with a 5 digit code. it may also be inside your owners manual cover or on one of the pages. it may also be under the engine compartment fuse box lid. you can also ask your dealer and supply them the registration and ID. they can get it using your VIN. to clear the code the service reminder code you can pull the cables off the battery like someone posted here. however to clear a check egine code and light you need a OBD2 scanner
