Accord Bad ECU P1607, P0505??
Hi,
I have recently brought a 2001 accord with a bad engine back to life from a bad #3 cylinder.
Long story short car started and ran, but now will not even power up the starter. The only way I can get it to run is if I hook my OBD2 scanner to it, and then it starts up and runs.
With the scanner hooked up it throws a P0505, and a P1607. The car does hunt for rpm once warm, and when driven dies on the road after about 1 mile. I replaced the IAC motor with the one that was on the original engine, and the same hunting issue continues.
Has anyone ever had an ECU that won't allow the car to even turn over unless the scan tool is connected?
I did a search, and it seems that the P1607 pretty much means that the ECU is bad. Is this true?

Grab a 96/97 ECU (no immobilizer, just plug in and go) and see if it'll run. I'd hate for you to spend all the money on a "proper" ECU, then get they key programmed, and find out that's not the problem
