Accord AC Compressor kicks in and out
Hey everyone, I know this is for 1990 and newer but my 1987 is close enough. I have a 87 Accord that the AC compressor kicks in and out like every couple of seconds. No its not the usual cycle of on until it cools down and off. The pressures are good and everything else is good. I can watch the compressor kick on and off every second or so but the ac fan on the front stays on. I have heard something about a temp sensor in the car that can start failing.
Any help??????
Any help??????

Thermostatic switch, is that what you are talking about? To test, jump the ac pressure switch wires, check pressures...what happens and what are the pressures if the system stays running......only do this for ~30 sec or so as if the system is low damage can be done,,,,this does sound like low freon. I say freon unless this car has been converted to "something".

Low freon and if the pressures are reading good then you probably have air in there along with refrigerant. It could also be a bad compressor clutch, clogged receiver drier, and many other things, but I would evacuate the system and recharge first because that's the most common culprit.
