Repair costs -Is my situation normal?
Bought 97 Accord with 50000mi 4 years ago for 10K. Since then, I have driven 122,000mi and put 5000 into repair costs not counting oil and tires. The left front axle has been clicking fjor the last 5000mi. Hopping it will lst til the summer. Will another type of car cost less in repairs? I know, I do 30K a year in communting on the highway.

Some people could argue that a Toyota might have less repairs... To be honest, when you start approaching the 200,000 miles mark, you're going to begin replacing parts that most people never have to worry about. And that's regardless of what kind of car you drive.
If you're axle is only clicking during turns, then you've got a bad CV joint. You can look to see if the rubber boot is torn/cracked, which is what usually leads to a failing CV joint.
The CV joint should last a few more months until summer hits, and shouldn't cost too much to replace. I would still advise changing it as soon as possible, in order to avoid the risk of complete failure and the need to call a tow truck.

If you take a look at the last issue of Consumers Report, you will see that, over the long-haul, Toyota and Honda are the most reliable cars on the market.
But your repair expenses seem a bit high, at least to me.

It's hard to say without knowing what has been fixed and how much he was charged...
