automatic transmission px4b drives in neutral
Ok so I have a 90 honda accord lx with a px4b A/T. Its jacked up shifts resly hard lunges when you shift in reverse and has no power at all. So im replacing it monday but today.
I shifted into neutral and took my foot off the brakes and I started to roll. Then I gave it some gas and off she went . I drove my car in neutral for 3 min.
I find this very odd how would this happen never have had this happen to me so any ideas of what it coild be.

I suppose the cable isn't adjusted correctly. Normally the neutral safety switch would prevent you from starting unless in neutral or in park but I suppose if it's really that badlly adjusted I suppose it wouldn't know.
This still sounds kinda hard to believe.

Re: automatic transmission px4b drives in neutral
When you shift into Neutral is it actually Neutral or are you solely going by what the shift indicator is showing?
Without looking at the shift indicators, place the car in Neutral from Park > Reverse > Neutral. What is the indicator showing? What does it show in all other gears?
The shift cable can become maladjusted and need readjustment. Click on the Techauto link and look up shifter adjustment.

Re: automatic transmission px4b drives in neutral
The video just shows that the shift indicator on the dash shows 'N'. But that doesn't mean much.
If you can answer these questions it would be helpful...
Also...
Can you shift from Park without depressing the brake pedal?
With the car OFF can the shifter be moved without having to use the override?
Can you shift into other gears? If so can you select D1 and does it indicate '1' on the indicator?
Have you had any recent work done? White faced gauges are not factory.
