Default 98 Accord Brakes Acting Very Odd

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. It's very similar to one posted in this thread from a couple years ago that didn't have a solution:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-accord-1990-2002-2/1998-honda-accord-brake-problem-2477243/

Basically what's happening is that if I start the car, drive in normal rural conditions for a while, maybe about 10 minutes or so, the brakes act weird. The pedal suddenly becomes very firm, and it does not take much pressure to stop the car. There are no scraping sounds while the car is in motion or during braking. There is some vibration, but ONLY when the car is in motion (there is no vibration when coming to a stop).

Once the car is stopped, the brake pedal is still very firm, and I need to rev the engine to around 1700 rpm to get it to move. When the car does move, it's a very sluggish response, like the brake pads are still in contact with the rotor, but again, there's no brake sounds. Accelerating to a moderate speed, say 30 mph, takes 1/2 mile and a lot of gas pedal work. If I let my foot off the gas, it decelerates quickly and can come to a complete stop in about 5-10 seconds. When stopped, the front passenger side is significantly hotter than the other 3 wheels, so that's where the problem is.

To get the car back to normal, I need to let it sit for about 10 minutes, let the heat dissipate from the wheel. Then I can drive for another 10 minutes before this repeats. Obviously I'm getting nowhere fast.

I changed the brake pads about 2 weeks ago. The rotors are in good shape, but have not been replaced recently. The caliper piston moved freely and compressed easily when replacing the brakes. And the upper and lower ball joints on that side were changed at the beginning of the month to let the car pass inspection. One local mechanic suggested pulling the ABS fuses to see if the sensors & relays were the problem, but that didn't solve it.

I'm at a loss here... can anyone help?

You may have to adjust the master cylinder pushrod clearance.
