Default 97 Acura CL 3.0 v6 Auto battery indicator light@4k rpm

My brother has a 97 Acura CL 3.0 V6 auto, everytime the tachometer hits 4k the
battery indicator light comes on, after the car shifts into a higher gear and the rmp's lower the battery light goes off.At first we thought that the original battery
was old and replaced it with a sears die hard, now instead of the light going on at
3k rpm, it goes on at 4k rpm. What could be causing the light to go on, bad alternator, loose belts? Any Accord owners have the same experience?Engine has
76k on it.....

Take the car to your local Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts store. They can do a battery/alternator test for free.

Check the plug into the alternator, or for any shorts along the wire.

We had the alternator tested at Autozone, its only putting out 36A Should be 105A and they seen Voltage Spikes of 18V when I rev it up to 4k, which is an overvoltage condition......Anyone know of an oem source for this alternator?
Local dealer wants $269 Autozone wants $107, I think were going to install it....
Thanks for all the replies..

doesn't have to come off a cl, one off the v6 accord would work as well, those shouldn't be 'to' hard to find in a junkyard

3.0 engine? Let me guess...that's a POS Bosch alternator.

I believe honda had a deal worked out with GM.
