94 Accord Won't Start, Just Electrically Dies
I have a 94 accord automatic. Wednesday the car didn't want to start. When the key is turned to start, the starter begins to want to engage, then everything goes dead in less than a second of turning the key. Nothing works, as if the battery is completely dead. About 30 seconds - 5 minutes later everything works again, as if the battery is completely charged. All I have to do to is turn the ignition to 0 and wait for the power to return. When I try again, the same. I can't pop the clutch, no clutch. I hate automatics, but this is my wife's car. She's going to learn to drive manual real quick.
Had the battery tested, works 100%, even under load.
Swapped in a new battery, no change.
Tested the starter, works better than the remans sitting at the parts store.
Bypassed the ignition switch with a push button start made from wrecker parts, no change.
Fuses - Everything powers on, don't think it's a fuse.
Positive power cables: possibly, but everything powers on.
Wired the starter solenoid straight to the battery, won't turn at all. Acts exactly the same, except nothing goes dead since the ignition is off. With the ignition on, everything goes dead. I would suspect the starter at this point, but was tested.
Replaced the grounding cables since the factory cables are terrible. No change.
Normally I can find a bunch of answers on the web, nothing this time. Any ideas?

"Wired the starter solenoid straight to the battery"
Where was it before?
As a mechanic, I can tell you if EVERYTHING goes dead after you turn the key as you described; it is battery connection dirty/not tight. Could also be battery but you had that checked.

I had some time to just relax last night. I realized (duh moment), everything powering up doesn't mean the starter can power up, there's two different wires involved. The only recourse I have left is make up new battery and ground cables. I don't see any other way.
