94 accord Weird overheating problem, after vtec solenoid fix from shady mechanic HELP
94 Honda accord ex 170k 2.2l vtec
Ok so I just went to this shady mechanic who could have done anything to my car who knows what, but he replaced the vtec solenoid gasket, and said he had to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Also he said the oil filter I had was a different size than the one he put on. And now 2 days later my car is acting really funny:
After I drive for awhile when I stop my temp gauge on my dash starts going up like fast I can watch it rise and as soon as I start driving it goes back to normal and drops very quickly. I’ve seen it get to ¾. but before it rarely went over half way, I know the oil level is good but when I took off the oil cap to look in smoke was coming out of the valve cover. My radiator fan goes on when I shut the car off but not in park, but I havnt let it get to hot,
I have a new waterpump radiator and timing belt, I cant figure out the problem, me and the mechanic got into it because he tried to rip me off so Im thinking he maybe came by my house and put something in my gas or oil? Maybe im just paranoid. Im gonna get an oil change and filter change tonight. And have them look at. But even if one fan was out this couldn’t cause that much over heating can it? I only see the passenger side fan go on.
Thanks.!!!

well its not the fans cause I turned on the ac and both fans kicked on full speed and it still over heated a little bit, maybe the incorrect oil filter

you checked the fan switch is connected? th fan switch could be bad also. how about the coolant..was the system blead after he put the manifold back on? the thermostat isnt stuck? and what about the head gasket? get a block tester from autozone and teast the head gasket. if the guy put something in the oil you will have to pull the oil pan to see if there is any crap in the bottom of the pan. i would change the oil and check the things i mentioned first though

How did he find out where you live?
Check coolant level. Check radiator cap. Look at your radiator cap compared to a new one.....You are running hot it sounds like. I would not drive it til you figure it out.
Little oil leak aint gonna hurt...
