Default 93 accord spewing oil from oil pump area??? help!

my wife and i share this car, so this really sucks. basiclly as soon as you start it, oil spews from right below the crank pulley. i'm guessing i need to replace the entire pump, or could this be something else?

thanx so much for any insight. i've started tearing it apart already.

to get the lower tb cover off, i need to remove the crank pulley right? i can't get that bolt loose to save my life. my impact gun only goes to 350 ft lb. oil is all over everything. i had my friend watch underneath when i started it. it literally pours out, like a faucet. i put oil in to load it on the trailor, and as soon as i started it it poured out. it's coming out right below the crank. either way, it's either the oil pump or it's behind the pump. also, since this is sohc, do i just line the cam so that "up" is facing up?

thanx.

will i know what this balance shaft seal looks like? sorry, i know my integra, but not this accord stuff. do you need to remove the tb to get to it? i never got around to getting a helms for this car........guess i should have.

the shop is my driveway...haha. i already have stuff torn apart, so i'll have to figure it out somehow. i really appreciate your continued help.
so this maybe isn't anyting w/ the pump? i couldn't figure out what this could be w/ how fast it was coming out ya know.

great, thanx! i'm gonna tackle it more tommorrow. the tb and water pump were changed before we bought the car. that was 40k ago, so it should still be good.

http://www.hondaautomotivepart...AINER

this is the page i've been looking at. part number 30 and 31 maybe. i don't see the actual seal though. these look to be ring seals. or is that what i'm looking for? also, i am looking to get the tool to hold the pulley. i've found 45mm and 50mm listed for honda's. which one do i need?
thanx man.

The balancer shaft seal is # 31, Honda Part No. 91233-PT0-003.

Slhonda.com link:

Balance shaft seal retainer is Honda Part No. 06923-PT0-306.

You can also buy parts from this site, which has the crank pulley tool available:

http://www.secureleadercom.com...e.asp

I believe the tool is a 50mm.

With the exception of the crank pulley bolt removal tool, it may be cheaper, faster, and more convenient to pick up the seal and retainer from a Honda dealer. They make aftermarket removal tools, which you probably can pick up locally in your area, and less expensive than the actual Honda one.

thanx man! i actually went today, and bought those exact parts. the guy at the parts counter actually new something for once. for $10 worth of parts, this sure is a mess. i hope this turns out to be the problem, but the parts guy said shaft balancer seal before i even got done explaining my problem. i guess there really isn't anything else that would cause the oil to literally just flow out.

i didn't want to wait to order the tool, cause i need to get this thing back on the road. i tried today again, and i can't get the cp bolt off. i even bought a new impact gun. didn't even budge. i don't know now, i guess i'll have to order the tool, and go the breaker bar route. one question, how is the tb behind the plastic cover? i mean it's behind the cover, but won't it come off when i pull the pulley off to get the cover off? know what i mean? thanx for all the help!

The timing belt tension is held by the tensioner like Evil Monkey stated. The balancer belt and timing belts are on separate pulleys and sprockets. The crankshaft pulley does not hold the timing belt on.

You can refer to Autozone repair guide:

http://www.autozone.com/az/cds...s.htm

and TouringAccord DIY for more info.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1908944

and ask Evil Monkey (who actually works at Honda, I think ) or others here for more info regarding changing the seal.

^^^wow! thanx so much, thats just what i needed to see. so i really don't need to remove the tb to change the seal then huh? it looks like i'll have enough room with it on.
i was told to rub the seal with grease, and to use a socket the same diameter of the seal to lightly tap it in. thanx again, i'm gonna print the pic out for reference.
both you guys have been extremely helpful, and i appreciate it.

I greased the lip of the seal, used a 27mm(iirc) deep well socket to gently push it in. Tall shot glasses work too( used one for my crank seal )

ok guys, i got it part way fixed. the new seal is in, but honda gave me the wrong retainer. i guess this is there way of fixing this issue. they gave me part # 06923-poa-306. the instructions with it say 94-97 accord . my oil pump is different, so this doesn't bolt up. anyone know what part # i'm actually looking for?
thanx again for the help.

Are you using the correct oil pump housing bolt area?

Check this TSB out, the TSB states that the early production kit instructions are incorrect, and to use this TSB instructions:
