93 Accord LX rough idle. in park the idle goes up and down 1500 to 2000 rpms.
Hello,
I need help with a 93 Accord Lx that has a idle problem. In park the idle is semi smooth but revs up and down from 1500 to 2000 rpms. At a stop light with the brake pressed it has a very rough idle.
Any suggestions?

Could be a bunch of things.
Does it do it when warm, cold, all the time?
Does it run properly at high speed?
Does it stall when the idle is rough?
Is the CEL on? Any codes?

It idles up and down when in park. When I'm driving it seems to run well except for stopping. If I'm stopped at a red light with the brake pressed and in drive it is so rough it shakes the whole car. It never has stalled when it is idling rough.
No warning lights are On in the instrument cluster.

Could be a possible vacuum leak. THose can be a bit difficult to find. Do you have any mechanical knowledge?

FS,
I have some mechanical experience with 90-93 accords. I'm just learning how to work on my car. If it is a vacum leak, where do I start? I also have a F22a Complete engine in my garage that I pulled form my wrecked 93 SE accord.
Could I swap parts off of that engine until I find the problem?
The up and down idle only happens when the car is in park and warmed up. The rough idle is everytime I stop with the car in drive and my foot on the brake.

Ok, the rough idle when your brake pedal is applied is probably caused by a bad brake booster or a vaccuum line leading to it. The brake booster looks like a round thingy attached to the master cylinder. You will find rubber hoses plugged into it. Trace them, inspect them.
Now as for you rough idle, then i would check again vaccuum lines as well as the egr vavle to see if it is closed during idle.
TO check for a vaccuum line problem, you have a couple of options.
1. look at them carefully
2. pull them off and see if something changes in the idle. if not, then line is bad
3. spray them with wd-40 of something. if the idle changes (goes up or down), then you have a leak.
4. Listen to them. You may be able to hear some hissing.
