6th gen accord auto to manual ecu ????
If 2 keys mated -
Im about to do a auto to manual swap and got a question about the manual ecu .....
Okay so its a brain teaser lol...if this makes any sense at all you let me know ....lmao
Cant you get a manual trans 6th gen ECU with a matching key and then.....
Go and get a BLANK special key and have this blank special key programed with that key that came with the ecu ......but leave it uncut/blank......then......take the key that was uncut but program copied and then take your original auto key and get it cut on the blank programed key so that way your key has a program for the new manual ecu going in the car, but has the cut of your ignition ....does this make sense This should work right. anyone ever do this ???? ....sorry for writting this to fast i had to type quick so i wouldnt get a headache lol

Re: 6th gen accord auto to manual ecu ????
basically in easy terms ur asking if u can take a regular microchipped key for ur vehicle and get it cut to work for ur swap? if so l doubt it because the whole point of the key being programmed is to recognized with that set key cut. now only legit thought l would have is to do what l did on my cd5. i did auto-5speed swap and h22 swap also well l just unplugged the harness to ecu for auto tranny tcu. just avoid tcu and u should be ok with 5 speed swap. now dont hold me to this lm not positive on 6th gen. but works on 5th

But wouldnt it work say i found a wrecked 99 5 speed accord took the keys, the 5 speed ecu, and the ignition where the key goes in.....i just figured if that works, you could just get a blank programable key,the new ecu key and your original key and program the blank to the ecu and cut to original key, that has to work because the chip is in the black part of the key right ?
I know some home depots program keys now or lock smiths also and i dont think they cut and program at the same time its 2 seperate machines.....so i might try and tell them to program the new blank to the ecu key but dont cut it ......then tell them to cut it with my original key so it slides in the ignition and programed for the ecu ....if that doesnt work ill shoot myself in the foot lol.....

Oh, if you are worried about your car being stolen....the key that "works" the ecu-cut the "shaft" off (so it does not confuse you) and just have it on you key ring.

Yea its confusing but involves 3 keys to make one....but if i can ill just use the auto ecu when i put the 5 speed tranny in, no big deal to me lol

last I checked, it doesn't know the key isn't in the ign switch...just the key is close enough to get the signal. Or as i said, just have it on your key ring....the ecu will not know on this gen.
