2004 Accord - 4Cyl - Std Trans - Acceleration Problems
Hi People
Having problems with my new Accord for 8000km since new.
The car accelerates normal when the engine is cold. But when it warms up there is a serious problem starting in first or often when completing a shift into second gear.
Perfect when cold - Bad when engine is warmed up.
It seems like I don't know how to shift a standard transmission any more - I have to slip the clutch to sart up normal to prevent the hesitation.
I have been driving manual transmission cars ( Hondas Mazdas etc ) all my life. I didn't buy an automatic because I like to shift myself.
But the hesitation is getting more pronounced. The dealer says it is normal.
It feels like a car that requires higher octane fuel. There is no "pinging" but it seems that the ignition timing is retarded.
Frustrated Oh Ya!
Anyone have any suggestion?

On top of what he says, this is perfectly normal. The engine has only been run for 8k miles. The engine doesn't even begin to break in till round 20k with another 30k to go till it's running right! Don't worry about it, it will all be okay

That sure doesn't sound normal to me. The K24 engine sure doesn't act like that... Not even during break-in.
