2002 Accord TSB 99-075 P1456 & P1457 update 8-9-13
Hi all,
I have read the threads here and virtually everywhere on the web pertaining to the P1456 and P1457 codes. I replaced the Gas Cap.Reset the code and 2 days later it is back. Then I took it to a friend of mine who owns and runs a repair shop here in town. He Ran a Smoke Test, no leaks, Checked and Replaced the CVS valve and the Bypass Valve. All others tested out fine. Reset the code. Two days later it was back. We then went through every test in the service manual and everything was within the specifications. So reset the code to see what would happen and 2 days later it was back. Then he pulled the TSB from Alldata and re-did all the tests. Again everything was within specifications.
All that to lead up to this. In the latest updated TSB of 8-9-13 it says if the car comesback twice with the same code and all checks are within specifications call the Tech line. Any Ideas?
I have heard/read that it is the ECM that is the problem and the only solution is to replace it? Has anyone heard this? Are they covering it under some warranty? Anyone have any experience with an issue that got to this point? I mean I don't want to pay all over at the Honda Dealership for them to tell me I need a new ECM? Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Service Bulletin 99-075 doesn't seem to have a diagnosis for damaged o-ring on the CVS. Following the procedure it concluded my canister was bad. I plugged all the ports as appropriate and pressurized it. Soaping up the joint showed a leak there. Luckily the o-ring was just folded over out of the groove and re-assembly fixed problem. Conclusion: these bulletins aren't bullet proof !
