Default 2002 accord and DRL LIGHTS

I have a 02 coupe accord and have ANGEL EYES 10000K with HALO lights with a light switch in car for my HALOS.
I live in Toronto am I able to disable the Daytime running lights with the car and just use my HALO's as the new "DRL"
and if so how can I remove the DRL fuse where would it be located?

I'm in Toronto and was going to do the same thing. I don't think there is any legal issue as long as the HALO lights actually operate like DRLs.

The issue is that there have been many posts about how the DRL sends lower "Voltage" like 6volts and lower "wattage" but I have not found a good post where someone actually tested with a multimeter and could indicate excatly what the module is doing.

I'm looking at the 98-02 Circuit diagram of the DRL and I see that the High Beam grounding is wired in parallel with the DRL module AND the Combination Light Switch. It looks like the positive power side is provided by the DRL module and based on how the lights work, it seems that the positive 12v battery power is always provided since the high beams work all the time. My guess based on looking at the circuit diagram is that the grounding provided by the DRL module may have added resistance while the grounding provided by the Combination Light Switch has a proper ground. Also, it's likely that the resitive grounding is only provided when the parking lever is released.

Without testing... my educated guess is that the DRL is always providing 12v power via Pin 1 and Pin 11 and when the parking brake is released the module provides a resistive ground. Because there is resistance and the high beams are not getting a full ground, they are dim. They are probably seeing a proper 12v signal, just not able to send the full current to ground.

As soon as the Combination Switch is set to High Beam, it provides a full ground to the circuit so the electricity seeing a path of least resistance, will flow full current to the ground provided by the High Beam or Passing switch.

I'll have to test this, but based on this logic, you should be able to disconnect pin10 which is the resistive grounding and test the High beams. If this works and the DRL does not, then we know that it's Pin10 that is providing the resistive ground. Now you just need a relay with a constant 12v sent to the trigger and the once the DRL provides the ground, it shold be enough to energize, then you can use the relay to send full power to your Halo or even trigger HIDs if you wish.

Played with the module last night. The DRL exploits the fact that light bulbs don't care which way the current runs and actually sends -6volts in DRL mode and flips to +12v in high beam.

The best thing to do is simply disable the DRL module while keeping it in place to provide the power to the high beams. Simply pull out pin#4 which is a grounding pin. It will disable the DRL yet still allow the high beams to function normally.

If you remove the module, you will disable the high beams.

Then just wire up a relay to IG2 and use that to trigger you HALO, fogs or whatever. The only real functionality you lose is that the DRLs will come on in IG2 regardless, whereas with the DRL module, the DRLs will only come on in IG2 AND when you release the handbrake for the first time. If you re-engage the handbrake, the DRLs don't turn off when using the DRL module.
