2001 accord tranny issue, its a wierd one.
So my buddy calls me up. His 2001 honda accord was loosing power and a check engine light came on. He pulled over and the engine bay was smoking. He pop the hood and noticed the red cheri tranny fluid was splatered on the exhaust and that is why he was smoking.
I did his 90k tune up and flush his transmission, no issues, Ive done them before. The only thing Im gonna admit to, is that I probobly did over fill abit. Did shifting of gears and gave it test drive, everything went smooth till today.
He had to have towed to his mome, Im gonna take a look at it tomorrow. But Im clueless here. Anyone have any good ideas as to how to approach this one, maybe a proper proceedure.
Thanks!
Get at me ASAP

Re: 2001 accord tranny issue, its a wierd one.
Thanks for getting at me. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly.
Did not do a drip and fill. I did disconnect the tranny coolar line blew air to empty out the radiator deposite.
As of today. There is a vent (burp) hose on top of the tranny, this is where the fluid was bleeding out from and yes it was wet and it was abit of drops still coming out.
I ran the car to running temp, both fans kick on. Put the car in Nutural check the level and it registers perfect.
Engine light was on. Trip the connection and pulled error code 70 was given. Noted the D4 light was also was also flashing an erro code 41 was ginven.
Anynone know this?
So Ill pulled out the back up clock fuse #13 to clear the tcm. D4 light cleared out but the check engine light stayed on.
Jump in the car drove the crap out of it, meaning driving hard, for about 20 miles. No porblems, tranny shifted flawlessly.
So that is where I am presently. Im guessing the tranny still had air pockets in it, when I refill it during the flus. I overfilled it to the dipstick brim. Im asume this can also be a possibility as to leaking out.
Get back at me with your thoughts.
Thanks. Im gonne be waiting.
Oh! My buddy wants to know why the car felt limp, loss of power when it was smoking?
