Several months ago, our 2001 Accord LX, 2.3 VTEC/ 4 speed automatic started making a groaning noise from the power steering when turning the wheel if the car isn't moving (when the power steering is under the most strain). I read up on this and determined it might be the same O-Ring issue as plagues 2003- 2005 Accords. I did notice air bubbles in the power steering reservoir, so I purchased black O-Ring PN # 91370-SV4-000, installed it and noise and bubbles are gone. That is until this past Saturday, when I pulled it into its parking spaces after a long drive the groan (and bubbles) returned. I noticed you don't hear it much when the car is cold, but after a mile or two, it will return, again especially when you turn the wheel if the car is not moving or moving slowly.

Since it's the same noise under the same circumstances, I assume it's the same problem as before I replaced the O-Ring. Is there a different O-Ring part # I should look for (I though I read somewhere where the orange O-Ring is better)?

I have a 2005 Accord V6 and have been having all sorts of trouble with my power steering system. There was a factory recall on the main high pressure line leading away from the pump and also on that O-ring. I did notice that they replaced it with the orange one; weather it's better than the black one, I couldn't tell you. I am still having issues...

I bought a 2005 CRV that makes a whining noise while in park. It sounds like a power steering pump to but the dealer says it is likely a tensioner pulley. Do the pumps on accords and civics sound alike when they fail? I played some youtube videos of failed pumps on accords but it does'nt sound exactly the same.

What should i tell the accord mechanic to check since they will do repairs for 30 days for cost.
