2001 Accord Coupe EX V6 Tires
Hi,
I have to buy a new set of tires for my 2001 Accord V6 Coupe.
The tires that came originally are V rated and are about 200 a piece.
My understanding is that the V rating is just for speed (210 km/h +).
It's safe to say that I never drive anywhere near that speed. Would it make a difference if I buy tires with lower rating?
Did anyone buy tires other than the ones that came with the car?
Thanks in advance,

It really doesn't, you hardly ever take your car above 100 mph (not sure on what km/h that is but im guessing 160). And you could probably get a cheaper tire for the same amount of performance.
It all depends on how you plan on driving your car, do you want to keep it completely stock? Do you plan on racing? Is wet traction a necessity? Will you be taking this car in the snow?
Your stock tire size is 205/60-16, guaranteed you could get a real nice all-season (has good wet traction with the loss of dry traction and grip) or a summer performance tire that has decent wet traction and high dry traction and grip for around or less than $100.
I would warn you to stay away from the Michelin MXV4 Plus, they came stock on my 04 and on your 01 and are pathetic in every way IMHO.

Re: 2001 Accord Coupe EX V6 Tires (msedacca)
I don't have much complains about the stock tires except that they are quite costly. I don't know how much longer I'll be keeping my car and spending around ~900 dollars for a new set of tire seems like a bit too much.
No, I don't take my car racing or anything like that so any suggestions as to what tires I could look for would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

Listed here are all of the all-season tires manufactured in your tire size at Tire Rack.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...3&y=0
You can order them off tire rack and have them shipped to your door in 2 days for substantially less than what you would get them for at your local tire dealer.
In the case that you wanted to re-purchase your stock Michelin tires, they are sold for $142 a piece plus road hazard.
I would highly suggest that you don't repurchase those tires. I would also highly suggest that you talk to "nsxstasy" in the "Wheel and Tire" forum. He knows volumes about tires and will be guaranteed to ask you the same questions I did, so be ready to answer his questions. He is the local guru on tires.
