1996 ACCORD A/C QUESTION
I am considersidering purchasing a 96 Accord Wagon. In inspecting the car we noticed that the AC when turned on was not blowing cold air just warm air. It was found that the AC coolant level was sufficient but the compresor & compressor fan were not kicking in. A mechanic checked and it a put a jumper on the compressor contacts & the compressor came on but the compressor fan did not. When the compressor came on the AC immediately began kicking out cold air. So the the question here is are the compressor & fan interlocked so that if either the compressor and or the fan are faulty that niether will function?

Re: 1996 ACCORD A/C QUESTION
First, have em check the pressure in the system using ac manifold gauges. If it's within specs. Have em rejumper the compressor, then have em jumper the ac pressure switch and see if the fan comes on. If it does, replace the pressure switch. Obviously you'd have to have em evacuate the system before replacing the pressure switch and recharge it after.

Re: 1996 ACCORD A/C QUESTION
Just to add, it's best(and sometimes necessary to keep the evaporator from freezing within a short time of the compressor kicking on and the thermostat from turning the compressor off) to replace the expansion valve...and also the receiver/dryver when you open the system and if you haven't replaced those parts before.
