1992 Accord--HELP!!!
I have a 1992 Accord LX with 70,000 miles.
It is NON Vtech
It has been taken care of and is bone stock.
Lately, about 2 or 3 times a week, it will just shut off.
Usually as I am idiling or starting off.
If I wait 10 minutes, it will start right up and will usually run fine all day.
What could this be?
Thank you.

70,000 miles, Dang, that's a rare find.
About that time for a full maintenance tune up.
Spark plugs, spark plug wires, Dist. Cap n rotor, air filter, Radiator flush, pcv valve, fuel filter, etc.

The car had 48,600 miles on it when bought.
I plan on doing a full maintainence on it but what about the current
problem?
The car shuts down but can be restarted after about 10 minutes.
What do you think causes that?

Re: 1992 Accord--HELP!!!
My 94 accord did the same thing. I thought it was the relay but the stalling turned out to be the fuel pump going. Mine took 20 to 40 minutes before I could start it again. After the fuel pump was changed it had trouble starting. I'd turn the ignition on but not turn it over. After 20 minutes waiting with the ignition on the main relay would prime. That was fixed by taking care of a loose ground.
It's probably your main relay, I'm told that's pretty common in old Hondas, something about the solder. If its not that, a fuel pressure test wouldn't hurt and of course check your grounds. Do you get a check engine light when it doesn't start? Can you get any codes it it does. If the ecm isn't getting enough power than you won't get a code. Can you hear the fuel system prime when you turn the key to on, not don't start it?

Re: 1992 Accord--HELP!!!
I had a very similar problem about 5 years ago, it was the "igniter" part in the distributor. My engine would just randomly shut down as I was driving, often after only 1 to 5 minutes of driving at low speed. Car would restart after 5 to 10 minutes, opening hood to cool engine seemed to help.
Igniter is also called "ignition control module", I got another one off a scrapyard Accord, it was a different brand part, has worked reliably.
