Default The worlds FASTEST 4 Cylinder!

The worlds Fastest 4 cylinder car was made from a custom built aircooled flat four 2854cc engine running @60psi and has dual stage N2O! Aircooled Flat Four, wait a second... Thats a Volkswagen style engine!

What did it run??? 6.70@202 with an estimated 1,000+ horses @60psi

Edit : Its in this months edition of hot VWs Mag.

Umm AirCooled flat engines are Porsche legacy, though Porsche did own/design for VW as well.

What is the most powerful 4 Cylinder making horsepower wise? Kenny from Jotech is making 1,050 or somewhere there abouts. They ran a new record 8.59 at 170.1 I think.

Ok.. I disagree.... it's the fastest 4 cyl. in a STRAIGHT LINE. How does it do on a track?

btw: Alfa Romeo and Honda both produced F1 cars that were 1.5 liter 4 cyl. motors that ran at 72 psi of boost and produced over 1150 hp. They weighed in the ball park of 1500 lbs.

So this drag car isn't THAT impressive.

Yes, I know... Back in 1930 Porsche (The guy) built the VW beetle but it was stored away until 1934 when Hitler came to him and said that he needed a car to fit 2 adults and 3 children, be able to maintain 60mph and cost 800 marks or less so in 1936 after fudging alittle Porsche came out with the V1-V3 and at the last minute changed from wooden floorpans to metal and they came out with a 24 horsepower flat four aircooled engine (that design was thought up by his assistant though). Bla bla bla bla...

I really just consider Porsche and Volkswagen one company, Porsche has the speed, Volkswagen has the Luxury.

This engine wouldn't be able to last through more then a half mile because they break so much so often trying to put out so much horsepower.

If it makes any difference, there is somebody out there running with a bug body thats hitting low 8s. Track only but still impressive.

Both the early Porsche and early VW aircooled boxers where designed by Dr. Porsche, so they are more related then alot of folks think. FYI the VW engine was around first. This also explains why alot of late 70s early 80s Porsches have VW parts under the hood (914,924)

Don't forget Renault and Honda used V-6 turbos. BMW ran 4 cylinder turbo in Formula One.
