Default UPS and leaving packages at the front door

i ordered my sister her christmas gift and apparently UPS delivered it on friday afternoon while i was at work and no one was home so they left it at the front door.

surprise surprise, i get home and its not there. how does this work with UPS? if i call them and say that they left it at the door and someone came by and walked off with it what will UPS do? with they tell me to go pound sand or will they actually acknowledge that leaving packages at the front door is stupid and reimburse me?

If you call them they should reimburse you if you were supposed to sign for it. If the package was a no sign then idk. You should call anyways and ask doe.

not their fault if it was a package that didn't need to be signed for.

I wouldn't say this but I never have anything sent to my home anymore. I always have stuff shipped to my work or if it's something more personal like the VS PJs I ordered for the wife I have them sent to my parent's house which is way out in the country so they never have problems.

The apartments I live in now actually offer concierge service for this type of thing which is nice.

I've requested a signature on stuff they have delivered and they left it out to be stolen anyway. They told me it doesn't matter if a signature was required they aren't liable. I don't use their sorry asses anymore. I had a relative who worked for them and he said if something was marked fragile they would often play football with it.

The Purolator guy that delivered my Nixon belt left it under the BBQ cover with a note on the front door. They should do that more often.

When I ordered my last computer from Newegg, it was all delivered at once (despite the multiple tracking numbers I got, I assumed I would get it at different times.) UPS wouldn't leave it at my door, they needed me to sign for it.

Shipper needs to pony up and reimburse you. If it is of value and you live in the hood use delivery with signature- you must sign for the item and they will not leave it otherwise

I had FedEX do this with a camera about seven years ago. The thing is, we were home when they said that they delivered it. The bottom line is that the driver stole the package.

What wound up happening?

I have two buddies who used to work at UPS (in the hub, where the packages are sorted, etc); they didn't give a **** at all. **** out of their asses was treated better. Not that relevant to the thread, but the point I am making is that more than likely the driver doesn't give a ****.

UPS does an auto 100$ for insurance, especially for FDD which i think is retarded...always require a signature when you ship.

I've talked to our UPS guy before and he said in certain "bad" areas they aren't allowed to leave packages. But this may vary depending on the local terminal management etc...

I called the company and they sent me another camera. I would have pulled payment through the credit card otherwise. They did not require a signature for the shipment, but FedEX did not knock on the door or ring the bell, which leads me to conclude that it was never delivered.

We had a UPS delivery before from Amazon that was delivered to another house by mistake.
