Default Is there a situation where a dealership would trade you cars straight across?

Say for example my civic is worth $8500. The wouldbe car I wish to trade for is $6000. Would they actually trade straight across? Or would they simply say no. I'm curious.

My car has a bad 3rd gear syncro so selling it is going to be a pain.(Only grinds when you shift into from 4k5rpm or &gt KBB on it is $8400 (immaculate condition except for the tranny) Would it be worth it to replace/repair the tranny and then try and sell it? I'm hoping to be able to sell it, use some extra money I have and pick up an 87-93 GT or a 96-98 Cobra.

My car has the typical ricer mods, which I'm afraid would destroy dealership value and also make it hard to sell. The Car is a 99 EX with 70k.

16" Gunmetal Wheels
Greddy Evo Exhaust
Intake
Alpine deck/infinity speakers

Damn, I just realized how unorganized that is. Sorry guys.

Anyways, what do you think? Would a dealership trade somewhat fair or rip me off. If they won't trade fair, then is it worth it to fix the tranny before selling it? or am I best off just selling it as is and letting the buyer know.

Dealers don`t do **** unless they are going to make loot. Your deal offers them nothing to work with, they won`t do it.

Not to mention that they hate selling cars that have aftermarket products.

They usually won't do it unless they can make some good $.

I did however trade my 91 Legend ls straight across for my 94 integra rs. The legend was nice but it had a seeping head gasket problem. (which i forgot to mention when i traded it )

IMO if its worth 8500kbb, then sell it to some ricer kid for 7000(since the bad third gear) and youll have your 6000 car plus a grand. never trade in a vehicle because you are always gonna get the poor end of the price(i dont say poor end of the deal because some people really dont care).

Sell it and then buy the other one, if the tranny is the only problem, you shouldnt have a hard time selling it.

Tranny is the only problem. So my other question is.... is it worth fixing the tranny? Say I could get a Y8 trans from HT for $250 and put it in. Or should I just tell them about it and hope they don't care.
