Default New England Forest Rally & Kingdom Trails (133 Pics)

Several months ago, I attended Rally America in New Hampshire. My coworker and I took a trip up north from New Jersey to attend. We are also avid mountain bikers, so we also set up a ride at Kingdom Trails, Vermont.

This picture post is long overdue, so apologies ahead of time. For those of you who saw my NYC Bike Ride picture post, I'm glad you enjoyed them. I was having fun posting them, so I decided to have a go with these as well. Again, the camera is a Canon EOD XSi with an 18-55mm and 55-300mm kit lens. I'm just trying to get good with it, so don't mind the noobish shots. I also have over 1000 pics, but I picked the good ones to post. I used the "continious shot" feature a lot, so one car passing would take up about 30 shots haha. Your modem will thank me for not posting all of those. Sorry, not too much commentary on this one.

Starting in order...here was us getting lost. We found some dirt roads to have some fun on in the spirit of rallying...but in my parent's Hyundai. Haha.

The beast!

Look at all the bugs.

A few scenic shots before the actual first rally point. I don't remember the town since it was so long ago. Of course lots of the people watching had rally-esc cars of their own.

The first rally point was not very spectator friendly at all. The following pics were really the best I could get even with my 300mm lens.

Ken Block was the first one out. Like I said, bad spectator spot. I have better ones later, don't worry!

We eventually left that area to walk back to the car to get a good spot at the next rally point. We found one spot by a rusty fence that allowed for some better shots.

We took a drive for about an hour to the next rally point. Here was a spectator dude in a pretty cool Datsun?

This was the start point. More of that later.

This was the Rally Master explaining to us the route, the cars, and overall safety. Since we got there early, we got a really good spot.

This was our spot about 1 hour later when everyone else showed up.

This was the view I had.

Hmm, I wonder who's coming over there in the distance. Anyway, I didn't take pics of every car coming by, as there was a lot. We were also there for ~4 hours, so we saw them coming this direction twice. Then the other direction once.

This was was actually our friend. He rallys quite a lot on the East Coast. He came into this turn pretty wide. Nice.

This Integra was turbo. Sounded pretty sweet. He also almost wiped out after the turn. The next time he came around, something was wrong with the car. He was driving very slowly.

Busted tire.

Piece of Travis Pastrana's mud flap. I shoulda ran out and had it signed haha.

Our friend again. Hmm, he seems to be missing something.

There was about a 45 minute break, so we took a little hike towards the lake down below.

o hai, im in the wuds spiing in j00.

We found another spot that technically wasn't a spectator area. We were hidden from the corner workers so they couldn't kick us out. We found out VERY quickly why it wasn't an official spot. As each car went by, we were showered with rocks. As soon as I snapped each pic, I would turn around and duck for cover. I got quite bruised, but it was all worth it for these shots haha.

Our buddy again with no bumper.

He still didn't get his car fixed. I think he was just driving to qualify or something? Not sure how rally races work.

When the next 10 minute break happened, we ran to another spot. Unfortunately, this dumbass kept blocking my shots.

Since this guy wasn't winning anything, he was just fooling around most of the time for the crowd.

Since it was getting late and we were there for like 5 hours already, every time there was a lull in traffic we ran back towards the front. Unfortunately every few seconds, someone up ahead would yell "CAR!" and we'd all dive into the trees haha. It was pretty fun.

This was the start. This was the final run, where cars would be going the opposite way, starting from here.

Yes, we got to party with him later. He was a funny guy. Him and Block were making fun of each other's driving and betting who would get a better time.

Our buddy again with his night lights. It was starting to get dark.

We were also invited to the after party, which was pretty cool. Here was where all the cars lined up and we could check them out. Didn't take too many pics since I was on my last memory card for the day.

My coworker Dimitri.

Here's my car. I took this home instead of the Hyundai. Haha.

Okay, so onto the mountain biking pics in Vermont. We parked at this bike shop, which was the start of Kingdom Trails. There's roughly 65 miles of terrain out there.

Some other riders.

Dimitri's rental Trek Fuel EX 8.

My Ellsworth Moment.

They have pretty cool trail names here.

If you guys promise to not make fun of me, here's a little video we made haha. Some of the pics are in this post, of course. The video doesn't start until like 15 seconds in or something.
