Default How do you stop a crack from spreading in your windshield

my mom's vw's windshield has a small crack, it will be replaced sooner or later but the car's practically new and its a tiny hair line crack, how can we keep it from spreading in the meantime?

From living in the NW, from what I understand, what makes the window crack is a repeated process of the glass getting cold, then hot, then cold...etc. etc. Is it still small enough to take it to a rock chip repair place? As soon as it starts spider webbing I think it's done.

My cousin that works for a auto glass company says this stuff is where it's at.

They do the same for their customers that don't want to replace their whole windshields.
