Default Do you think it is littering to throw fruit on the floor?

Do you think it is littering to throw banana peels, apple cores, ect on to the ground while walking outside or out of your car window after you eat them? I do it all the time and feel guilty for some reason. It is not trash that will sit there. It will naturally decompose and its not a man made piece of garbage.

I guess it depends. I mean, throwing it out the window the the street, yes. But if you're out camping and you throw an apple core in the bushes, no.

I voted "Depends". Throwing food on the floor is laziness. But sometimes if I'm eating an apple in the car, I'll throw the core out into the grass, but never on a street or in the city.

Throwing cigarette butts out of your window is littering. Those who do that should be burned in the eye by a cig.

Floor, yes. Ground, no. Animals would love a banana peel or old orange.

I'm a smoker and I endorse this statement. I keep a bottle with some water in it under my seat to put butts in.

On the floor? That's not right.

On the ground? That's fine.

Fruit will biodegrade or animals/bugs will eat them.

Why would you throw any trash on the floor though? That's just gross.

Haha, x2

I can see the OP's living room with banana peels and apple cores everywhere because it's not littering.

On to the floor:
You're disgustingly dirty

Out the window:
You're helping another animal get some food...and it's biodegradable.

by floor/ground i mean outdoors. Never in the house. I mean if you are walking down the street and throw it on the floor.

In the bushes = fertilizer

On the pavement = trash

as long as it decomposes naturally I don't think it's littering. You can throw a whole burger on the freeway and it will disappear without harming the environment. But if you throw a soda can out the car I will have to run you off the road.

animals tend to go after old fruit... meaning I won't throw it in the road, because, well, that's asking for a dead animal.

Out in the wilderness, it's fine. However, I don't understand you people saying it's not littering on the street either. If there were banana peels all over the street and sidewalk, it would cause problems. It would take days/weeks to biodegrade, and it's a nuisance in the meantime.

Thank you!! You are a rare breed. I hate when smokers think their cigarette butts are somehow exempt from being trash, or they're too cool to find a place to dispose of them properly.
