Default Can you paint your wheels without taking the tires off?

I just got some new rear tires and I was thinking about painting my wheels.

But I don't wanna pay to have them remounted again plus there is the issue of transporting the car...

I'm thinking of going powder coated black on the 19' OEM's. Plus I wanna black out the grill too.

In order to powder coat the tires have to be off the rims. The powder is applied to the rims and then the wheels have to be heated in an oven which would cause your tires to melt/burn to a crisp. You can paint them with the tires still on, but it looks ghetto as [freak].

Sure can, just buy a roll of wide blue painters tape and slip the tape under the lip and it'll come out fine. I painted my rims just a few weeks ago:

Now I painted the spokes green and blacked out the center cap completely

stolen from wiki:

"The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin." "

I don't think that would be possible with a tire in the way.

A local shop around here does powder coating for about 100 per rim.

If you wanna powder coat them there is no way for you to keep your tires on.

That is a clean car, dont ruin it by doing a shitty job on your rims.

Looks like you used rattle can. I recommend using a spray gun next time, you will have better results.
